The advent of digital technology pushed forward various industries, changed the way we shop, search for jobs, and even made its impact on education. Large tech companies such as Google, Microsoft, and Apple developed learning tools that made the education process efficient, personalized, and flexible. When the COVID-19 pandemic ushered global lockdown, the application of modern technologies allowed the US school system to quickly adapt to changes.

We analyzed the current situation in the United States education system and came up with some interesting findings regarding the improvements that modern technology established in the last few years.

Improved communication

The most important aspect of the education process is the communication between teachers and students. Instant messaging systems, emails, and other means of online communication allow interaction beyond the classroom. Students can ask questions, set up consultations, and get important updates from their teachers no matter where they are.

Thanks to digital technology, the education process is extended beyond school and became more personal. Keeping in mind that this generation of students is used to online social interaction it is easy to see how they would feel more comfortable communicating with their teachers through means that are familiar to them.

Students can find learning resources and read more essays about education much easier

Before the internet came into schools and became available to students, finding proper sources of information depended on the proximity and availability of well-equipped libraries and learning centers. Unlike the times when universities allowed access to their archives only to registered members, nowadays everyone can access and read free essay samples for college students online. Digitization of both public and closed databases made the research process much easier which propelled academic advancements and allowed the international exchange of information between both students and faculty members.

As essays and research papers present a crucial element of the US education system, facilitated data exchange and gathering provided students with the means to produce high-quality academic writing tasks that carry substantial scientific value.

Learning surpasses classroom barriers

Instead of depending only on their teachers and classmates for support in learning and research, students can nowadays expand their knowledge through collaboration with external partners. A high school student, as well as a postgraduate, can easily reach out to a remote scientific center and ask questions or exchange information that are not available in school or go beyond their teachers and mentors.

Numerous collaboration platforms allow individuals to exchange information and work on projects together even without physical presence. A student could be sitting in his classroom in California and keep track of data that are being collected and stored on a server in Amazonia. Without physical and geographical restrictions, students can collaborate with their foreign peers and build international connections to propel their academic advancement.

Comprehensive presentation of abstract subjects

Understanding the workings of subatomic particles, macromolecules or black holes and other abstract subjects is not easy for everyone. Many students find it challenging to understand something they can’t see or feel which is why the introduction of VR and AR tools became widely accepted as a method for presentation. Students can put on their VR goggles and interact with DNA chains, animals that live on distant continents, and object hidden deep in space.

Thanks to augmented reality, teachers can now take students on field trips that include walking with dinosaurs, swimming with sharks, or even observe medieval battles. All this allows students to gain a better insight into those topics that would otherwise be difficult to absorb and process.

Teachers can now personalize their approach

Thanks to learning management systems such as Google Classroom and others, students can now keep track of student progress with more insight and much easier than without the use of software solutions such as these. Apart from advanced features such as online testing and homework assignment, teachers can keep track of each student’s progress individually.

Online testing is of great value because it facilitates the grading process so each student gets an immediate result and a chance to see every wrong answer. On the other hand, teachers now have more time to deal with students that require more attention and develop personalized learning content that matches the needs of each student respectively. Furthermore, learning management systems provide teachers with the means to share teaching material to students much easier, so those that need more information have access to everything they need to achieve better results.

Conclusion

These were some of the most notable ways in which the use of modern technology has changed the education process in America. The exchange of information is much easier and faster than before. Students have more ways to approach different subjects and learn about topics that would otherwise be difficult to adopt. Education is the engine of innovation and as such needs to adapt to changes that come as a result, therefore, we should expect even more changes in the future as new technologies and discoveries come along.
