How to Create a Group Text on iPhone

In order to create a group text on your iPhone, first open the Messages app and start a new conversation. Then, tap the “+” sign and select the contacts you want to add to the group chat. Once you’ve added all the contacts you want, tap “Done” in the top-right corner of the screen.

Before you start texting away to the group chat you have just created, there are some important factors to keep in mind.

  • Each text message you send to the group will be sent to everyone that is in the group text.
  • If everyone in the group text is an iPhone user then the send button and messages will remain blue (just like texts between individual iPhone users)
  • If a person in the group is not using an iPhone then the message will not be sent as an iMessage, instead it will be sent as a regular SMS and the send button and messages will be green.

How to Add Someone to iPhone Group Text

To add someone to a group text on your iPhone, first open the Messages app. Then, open an existing group conversation or start a new one. To do this, tap the compose icon in the upper-right corner of the screen.

From there, type in the names or numbers of the people you want to include in the group chat. When you’re finished adding contacts, tap the blue “Done” button in the upper-right corner of the screen.

Once you’ve started or opened a group chat, tap the “i” icon in the top-right corner of the screen. This will open the Info page for that particular conversation. On the Info page, tap “Add Contact.”

How to Name a Group Chat on iPhone
